The hotels are lining up
All of them getting millions
Mom and pops get nothing
While they should be getting billions
Shamed and insulted in public
They are offered a pittance
“lucky you are still alive,
off with you, good riddance”
Made to feel small and look the same
Why don’t they get paid nicely in this capital game
Instead they get to toe the line
Yet everything is not very fine
It must be an error or a mistake
Mom and pop are surely not only woke but awake
Are they to be spat on in plain sight
Is that what we call their inalienable right
It is a sham to cleanse the land
Of every family looking for an upward outstretched hand
To be dumped on in a way so vile
The video of it is longer than their cash pile and about to go viral
How are they to survive
When the market takes a dive
How are they going to eat
When they are insulted and old, frail and weak
This really is some mistake
This error will surely grate
Not just now but for days to come
Because this is why their family may have trouble marrying another one
Is that the plan
To end their line
Poor mom and pop
Have I dropped a dime
Was this the solution
To weed them out
Whatever they do don’t sell their house
Even though their treated like a mouse
In a world of lions, tigers and bears
Mom and pops are only too aware the likes of them are rare
They’re not in the dark
And they’re teeth are as sharp as a shark
Are they supposed to live hand to mouth
And then say thank you for it
All the hotels keep the cash while theirs is under the couch
They too know how to store it
Why should they sit around and starve
While others are growing big
Where is their feast
Or is that why others now dance the jig
Mom and pop have seniority
They’re no snot nose kid
Mom and pop deserve respect They’re not some dirty pig
